Hello friends and students!
We are looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year! Let me know if any families in your classical or homeschool community would like to benefit from classical art lessons at my studio, Planted Art Studio, in Oxford, GA. Planted Art Studio is a classical art studio where students replicate and study classical Masterworks like Monet, Van Gogh, Durer, and more. They learn the “building blocks” of art including how to see shapes in pictures, how to recognize and use shading and blending, and how to use composition and perspective. I teach Kindergarten through 12th grades and offer educational paint parties for all ages. My goal is that students learn how to recognize and imitate what is true, good and beautiful and incorporate those things into their own unique work in a class setting that fosters community and finds value not in what we create but in the One who created us. I’m a lifelong artist with a degree in communication and a minor in art. I taught art at a Classical Christian school for three years beginning in 2017 and launched my own private studio in 2020. My teaching paradigm is that anyone can learn how to draw, and everyone should learn to appreciate art. My classical classes are a great opportunity for homeschool or classical parents interested in introducing their students to art as well as those who are ready to take their art in a more serious direction. They are not your average “crafty” sort of art classes, but classes that imitate great historical artists and teach the technical skills of art. Please share my information with your classical or homeschool community if this is something that would be helpful to them and let me know of opportunities to connect! My contact information for students as well as more detailed information is on my website at www.plantedartstudio.weebly.com. Let me know if you have any questions! Adalyn was recognized for her participation in the competition and even got her picture with Congressman Hice! We also did a fun art scavenger hunt (in the rain!) around downtown Monroe. Student art pieces were displayed in different shops and we enjoyed checking out the shops and finding the pieces.

Working on our graphite buildings and people project! Students choose to draw a building or a person and we focus on accurate perspective, facial proportions and planes, and using the full range of the value scale.

AuthorA wife, mom, and classical art teacher. In 2011 I completed a degree in organizational communication and a minor in art from Bob Jones University and I married my husband Amos. We have three charming and mischievous sons. The past three years I've taught art in a classical Christian school context which has greatly grown my skill as a teacher and convinced me of the valuable asset of copying and studying masterworks.
